This month, Fritemare is proud to welcome a full Frite Nite cast. Label don SALVA will be in the place, as well as worldwide kingpin B. BRAVO. Holding down the residential duties will be EPCOT. As always, Fritemare is held on the first Thursday of every month at Showdown, and is free. Not to be missed!
Ready to blast off!? Here’s some good hype we got in regards to some “Best Of” business and some other milestones in our first official year of releases…
B. Bravo on Benji B.’s Devitation Best of 2009 on BBC 1XTRA @ deviationmusic.com
Come celebrate the second installment of the new Frite Nite monthly event hosted by Epcot at Showdown on beautiful 6th street in downtown San Francisco. This month we have a couple of very special treats for you kiddies. All the way from London, we are proud to welcome H.U.D., a producer and virtuoso dj pulling at all of our heart strings around here right now. Peep his bodymusik blog and download all of his mixtapes for the bleeding edge of future bass music culture, all served up with the dj skills of a turntablist champion. You’ll thank us soon. Also appearing this month will be Frite Nite fam and San Francisco’s own Ryan Gilbert AKA Comma. Com has a new EP dropping this year on Semisexual records, we’ve been lucky enough to be bumping a pre-release version of it around the office, and it is nothing short of breathtaking. His dj sets hold the same weight, effortlessly reflecting his studio prowess. The combination of these two brilliant artists on one bill under the Fritemare banner is a blessing. Don’t sleep.
Fritemare goes down on Thursday, January 7th at Showdown.
Trauma House’s Dr. Plot & Professor Problems present “It’s 50″. A one of a kind parody of rap icon 50 Cent. Plot/Problems have intricately reworked 50 Cent’s audio/visual catalog to bring you this innovative masterpiece.
This is not another sorry ass “look I learned to use this video DJ software” exhibition. With turntables and video editing these guys whipped up an entirely new multimedia composition…not only is it comical - it’s still funky. These are the homies from Milwaukee, who have been killing it for a long time — and this proves they cannot be stopped.
Visit Trauma House for more in this sick audio-visual movement.
There’s nothing better than a sweaty dance party…but sometimes it’s gotta be about the nerds. Fritemare is a new party dedicated to the weird, abstract, or maybe just plain intelligent tunes that you’re too afraid to play out at your club gig. This is Epcot’s brainchild, and of course he had to keep it consistent with the 80’s throwback horror imagery. This is another new monthly music installment at the recently renovated Showdown bar on 6th and Market, but this time creative programming handled by our very own resident zombie. If you’ve caught Epcot’s DJ sets as of late, and found yourself scratching your head on how good of a DJ this guy is (isn’t he supposed to be a rapper?) don’t feel bad…he’s been doing it for years and has all the local producers newest heat that hasn’t hit the street yet.
For the first episode we have a guest appearance by Mike Boo, definitely one of SF’s unsung heroes and a wizard of many devices, who loves to keep his turntable compositions on the left side of things. If you aren’t familiar, Boo has released music on Alpha Pup and toured the world with Gunkhole, (D-Styles and Ricci Rucker), amongst helping to design futuristic electronic devices and a load of other incredible accolades. And of course we couldn’t do this without DJ Dials, who despite having a fond love of keeping ladies content on the dancefloor, has a sweet spot for the abstract electronic tracks, beat tape outtakes and all the nerdy jams that we all hold close to our hearts.
Epcot, Mike Boo and Dials…kicking off what will hopefully be a fruitful and long-standing monthly party to satisfy the cravings of all the die hard heads in the city. This will be at Showdown, this week and every first Thursday.
Phosho is SF producer Salva’s moniker for all things extra ghetto. This is one of his hottest juke joints as of late, a re-work of The Dream’s “Rockin’ That.” We hope you enjoy it — don’t be afraid to mix a little juke with your dubstep sets, it works.
Just got this new promo mix in our inbox. Needless to say Dials not only brought the quintessential grimey steppers of the last month, he peppered the mix with joints you definitely won’t have until halfway through 2010. One of the business brains behind the Lazer Sword empire, Dials is one of our favorite taste makers on the west coast. Somehow he’s always got the new heat…don’t be surprised if your best track ends up on one of his mixtapes long before you release it.
This new mix is in promotion for the Joker show at 103 Harriet (1015 Folsom) this Friday. Check the Facebook or Going.com and get your presale tickets so you aint left out in the cold. If you didn’t know, most of the Frite Nite artists will be in the house keeping the second room on lock — that’s B. Bravo, NastyNasty, Epcot and label don Salva. Not to mention headline support from Lazer Sword, An-ten-nae, Mimosa, Mophono, and of course the infamous Dials and Bogl will be in the house. That’s a lot of talent for one night.
Cop the 11/27 Joker @ 1015 Promo Mix by Dials here via mediafire. Bump this in the whip or in your buds and get hyped for Friday.

San Francisco based producer and all around tight dude Ryan Merry AKA Ghosts On Tape has just dropped a new joint on Wireblock! ‘Predator Mode’ features 3 new jams and a funky-as-fuck remix from UK producer Roska, which means that this piece of 12″ wax is mighty coveted by those in the know around the globe. Oh, did we mention that dude just dropped a brand new SF spotlight mixtape for XLR8R as well? Yea, that just happened. Cop that podcast HERE.
Call him a Bay ambassador via the Congo.
Pick up a copy of the newness over at Turntable Lab, where it is an editor’s pick, or through the UK fellas over at Boomkat. It’s only fitting to grab the wax, after all, Ghosts plays live off of floppy disks. Yup. That’s how he wants you to hear it.
On Friday, November 27th, Hyperdub/Kapsize recording sensation and Bristol native Joker will be making his San Francisco debut at 1015 Folsom. This is going to be one for the books. If you’re not familiar with dude yet, where have you been? He’s only been in every playlist of every dj/producer/tastemaker for the past year and a half, and been the pinnacle of pretty much all of those sets at that.
And due to that fact, no stops have been pulled in putting together what reads as a who’s who of supporting future stars.
Frite Nite fam is DEFINITELY in the building. In fact, we just went ahead and billed the second room as a Frite Nite showcase. Yea, we roll thick.
With one of the best soundsystems in the city, and a 4am closing bell, the day after Thanksgiving’s about to be rowdy as fuck. Eat your leftovers.
On Thursday night at Mighty in San Francisco, the next installment of our homies’ party over at Soundpieces will take place. Headlined by Machine Drum, and featuring Sleepyhead and NastyNasty, as well as associates Boglvs.Dials and Moziac, all on the proper-ass Mighty soundsystem.
BLAP.
Also featuring a live art installation by the homegirl Sparkuhl and crew, and a trip on the dub-bus w/ DJ Cruz, this is where Frite Nite fam will be representing. Oh, and it’s Sleepy’s birthday get down. Show love.
Soundpieces takes place on Thursday, November 12th at Mighty in San Francisco, California.
